Today I photographed the banding of three Peregrine Falcon chicks (eyases) here in Providence, RI. I’m so appreciative that I get to be part of this annual event – my favorite day of the year.
Joe Zbyrowski was in charge – below you can see him removing the chicks from the secret back door on the nest box. The adult falcons fly around screaming and diving at us, but they are not too disturbed because they continue to care for the chicks and come back to the same box every year to repeat the breeding process.
